Hello, darlings. I hope you are all doing well. So, this month I want to blog about my experience partaking in a readathon- this will be my first time blogging this experience so I will try my best to keep up to date with my progress.
First, things first what is the #makeyourmythtaker readathon?
It is a month-long readathon created by Charlotte and Ashleigh (from A Frolic Through Fiction). In this readathon, you can build your own magical character from four main categories namely, the royal court, the sorcerer, the rogue or/ and the warrior. Under each of these categories are four individual characters from which you can choose, for example, the royal court consist of the monarch, the courtier, the spy and the jester.
Secondly, what are the rules to follow?
One when you choose a path you must declare your TBR for that character. Two, you may not change your TBR unless you DNF a book or change paths. Thirdly, a book may only count once, thus you must complete four prompts to create a character. Fourthly, you must read the books in order. If you are utterly confused, click on the youtube video linked here or bellow, as Ashleigh explains it better and more comprehensively.
What path did I choose?
The main path I chose was the jester because I love to tell stories and entertain people with tales and acts. I wanted my character to have some magical power to make her acts come alive and her storytelling to be even more enchanting. So, I combined the Faerieβs and the Jesterβs paths to create my character. I chose the following books to read under each path:
Jester:
1. A middle grade: Howlβs Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones
2. A book with a red, purple, gold cover: Harry Potter and the sorcererβs stone by J.K. Rowling
3. A book about books: The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
4. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
Faerie
1. A book featuring fae: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
2. A book with a foiled cover: The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
3. A book set in woodland: Annihilation by Jeff Vandermeer
4. A book out of my comfort zone: Warcross by Marie Lu
Thus, reader as you can see quite a hefty TBR for June (or at least for me). What are you reading? Are you also partaking in this readathon and what character did you choose?
I decided I will read as much as can I read and will update you on the feelings and thoughts on these books and my progress throughout.
Happy reading darling.
Love,
B
Ps. I later built a background story for my character in one of my next post.
