Hello darlings, I hope you are doing well. Today I am back with another childrenβs book review for Niko Draws a Feeling by Bob Raczka and Illustrated by Simone Shin.

Book: Niko Draws a Feeling
Written by: Bob Raczka
Illustrated by: Simone Shin
Version: Kindle Edition
Published: 1 April 2017 by Carolrhoda Books
Genre: Children, Art
My Rating: 5/5 stars
This book captures Nikoβs story, a boy who draws everything which inspires him. However, he does not capture these events in a traditional manner but rather express it as emotions (or abstract art).
The story deals with important themes such as emotions, societal pressure and norms, friendship, the creative process and the desire to feel understood. It is well written and the typography used makes my heart sings.
Niko Draws a feeling was nominated for both the Charlotte Zolotow Award for Honor Books (2018) and the CLEL Bell Picture Book Awards for Write.
And this does not surprise me as this book captured more than Nikoβs feelings, it also touched my heartstrings. I never thought 32 pages could be filled with such emotion and the illustrations done by Simone Shin perfectly supported the storyline. (I wish I could have some of Simoneβs illustrations on my wall.)I believe every child and adult must read this, it is truly a masterpiece.
